One morning, there was visitor at my portfolio school. A creative director. The kind with opinions. He asked what I was. “Art director or copywriter?”
I told him I was a unicorn. Both. All of it. Why choose? He laughed. I laughed. I think I meant it.
A week later, he brought me up on the Breaking and Entering podcast. Not by name—but by spirit. Let’s just say I got humbled.
That was the moment I realized I didn’t need to sparkle to stand out. I just needed to show up. To listen. To learn. To work.
That’s when I ditched the horn and put on the hat.
Not a unicorn. Just a donkey in a party cone hat.
And somehow, that suits me better.
